About Us
Hello everyone,
Thank you for stopping by! We are neuroscientists by day and digital creators by night who are passionate about self-development, personal growth and a healthy mindset.

We met when studying Master’s degree in Clinical, Social and Cognitive Neuroscience at City, University of London and instantly realised that we had a lot in common! When we are not working on our research projects or interning at TheLab@City studying human learning and decision-making, we meet up at our local uni cafe or go to the park to chat about ideas for the blog.
The pictures below can prove that!
Inspiring creative work
Our website ‘Neurobirdies’ is all about sharing tips and tricks on how to optimize your brain power by using science-backed techniques. We write about things that help us on the journey to becoming our better selves: the books we read, podcasts we listen to, research publications, lectures and seminars we attended throughout our studies and many more!
So, who are we?

I’m Ana, a Master’s student at City, University of London currently writing my dissertation about emotion recognition. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Westminster (London, UK) and work as a medical writer, editor and communications assistant at the university. You can check out my writing at Lifehacks and I wrote a bunch of medical articles for Healthily.
My name is Adriana, although my best friend keeps me calling Caramel Macchiato. Growing up in a multi-cultural environment, I was exposed to 3 languages and soon started mixing them. I was curious about what happens in the brain and kept asking it.
After graduating with BSc in Human Biology & Psychology at the University of Worcester, I decided to dive into the Neuroscience world and started my Msc in Clinical, Social and Cognitive Neuroscience at City.

When I was a teenager, I didn’t want to choose one career path because I wanted to experiment with life. Help people. Today, I experiment in the vision lab conducting eye-tracking tests and exploring visual processing time and mental health at City Vision Lab. I investigate how people with autism process visual information by assessing eye-movement parameters. Yesterday, I found out that my visual processing time is 210 ms, while my brain process information faster (45 ms) than the eyes move (55 ms)!
I tutor Science & Maths, teach piano and write on Medium about my well-being experiments, mistakes and personal reflections.
While I was working at the WellBe as a wellbeing specialist I noticed that even small life changes, with a science-back up, may improve mood or elevate energy. Conversations with international clients gave me insights and new ideas to try.
So, before I recommend 5 am for time management and productivity, I try it. Fail. Try it again and re-design it. I start my day at 7 am with a morning swim and now head to the City EEG lab to conduct a study on contralateral delay activity (CDA) related to working memory.

What is this blog about?
Learn neuroscience with us and improve your life! How you can do it? You can start off by reading our blog posts about the benefits of journalling, learn about interesting topics in cognitive psychology and how to understand what type of therapy is best for you. If you are interested in studying psychology or neuroscience, we can help you to decide whether it’s a career path for you by sharing our experience with the application process to universities and working in the lab. We also plan to conduct interviews with our friends and acquaintances who work in science-related fields to help you have a glimpse into their lives.
PS. We also share with you the products we love to use every day, starting from our favourite supplements to digital tools that helped us throughout the years of studying and working.

Create journaling routine that gives you clarity
We have gathered 116 Journaling for Mindfulness Prompts to help students identify obstacles and achieve their goals.
